Earlier, the Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) said it was aware of the photographs but did not provide any further information. It has since been revealed that the weapons were found at a port in Barbados.
According to reports from the Caribbean Media Corporation (CMC), 16 firearms and 593 rounds of assorted ammunition were found hidden in vehicle parts that arrived by sea from Trinidad and Tobago.
The cache of guns and ammunition were found in four separate operations early Thursday at the Bridgetown Port as a result of an intelligence led operation involving customs enforcement officers and members of the anti-gun unit.
The Barbados police have detained several people for questioning following the seizure.
