At Khonquering Lion you can relax and get that 'perfect take' without any pressures or egos. We are here to help you exceed your expectations and sound your best. Therelaxed atmosphere allows you to focus on every note/phrase/word etc.
Our mixes are always done at digital 32bit floating-point accuracy keeping the signal path crystal clear. Before the mixdown we go into the editing stage. Full and precise digital editing and mixing. All mixdowns are completed internally, so you will always get first-generation versions of your projects, which translates to a clearer and cleaner sound on CD, radio, TV or film.
We can then master your CD with proper track indexing and
furnish you with a master disc. All you have to do is send your masterpiece to the CD duplication plant.
Drums are recorded first usually along with bass, other instruments and vocals will be overdubbed on separate tracks. At Khonquering Lion we have 40 track capabilities. We also do midi programming as well , and are specialists at drum programming
Overdubbing is recording while the artist plays or sings along with that which has already been recorded. After the drums have been tracked, other instruments, voices or sound effects etc. will be overdubbed on their own tracks while playing along with the already recorded drums.
Vocals are usually overdubbed last so he/she can interact
with the music
If some undesirable parts were recorded, those particular sections can be recorded over leaving the more favorable parts in tact. For example: You have an undesirable chorus section- we play the song and the singer sings along with it-when we reach the undesired part the engineer presses record (punch in) at the end of the undesired part,
we (punch out) switch the recorder back to play mode.

Each instrument will be recording on its own track. We've been known for using up to 12 tracks alone on the drums. This allows us to place everything accurately in the stereo field and have greater control. So now if the engineer wants to have more of any drum, voice or instrument or add some processing he may do this with ease cause everything is separated by itself.
It is in this phase that most time is usually spent. Here is where we do any editing, panning, equalization, compression, gating, and adding effects as well as other signal processors, getting that right sound for the perfect mix. We carefully place each instrument into the stereo field. At Khonquering Lion we have auto-mix capabilities. Auto mix allows the engineer to program every fader move, EQ change and dynamic change into the console. With automix we achieve the perfect level and processing on every track at any given moment in the song. After a move or change has been programmed the console will play it back flawlessly everytime. This is total control.
Mastering is the process where a recording is enhanced to its fullest potential.
It makes each song on an album sound the best individually but makes the whole album sound unified. In mastering we also place P&Q codes on the recording for track markers, as well as timing info so CD players will know where to find each song etc.
One of the main areas of mastering is the use of equalization, we can augment or diminish certain frequencies to sweeten up the sound. The EQ will make a certain piece sound good, but it must also make the whole album have that unified sound.
Compression is used to squash the overall levels of the music.
It can also be used to raise the level of the recording (or a track) without changing the quality of the recording. Depending on the type of music, voice over, speech etc. more or less compression may be used. Through the use of EQ, compression, peak limiters, fx etc. we can achieve the most professional sound quality for your album.
